How I work
I can’t magic away difficult life-circumstances and don’t tell you what you should do next.
I am here to listen and help you find your way.
In your search for a counsellor you’ve probably come across various counselling approaches advertised.
My approach is Person-Centred Integrative.
Put simply, Person Centred means I think you, the client, are the expert on your own life and know where it hurts. Even if you may not believe it yet, I trust that you have the answers within – my role is to be alongside and help you to find them, however challenging that might be.
And because counselling is not a one-size-fits-all process, the Integrative part means I can integrate other ideas into our work if they are helpful and appropriate.
Research shows there is an equal success rate between all the main theoretical approaches…
It also shows that whatever the theory, our relationship as counsellor and client is just as important.
I hope you’ll find me easy to talk to and empathic and that we can build a therapeutic relationship based in warmth and acceptance, trust and openness.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I follow their Ethical Framework and will explain the ethical boundaries that protect us when we start working together. In addition to private practice
I counsel with Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire’s Counselling Service to support and include clients of every age. I also have experience working in GP surgeries and community-hub settings counselling patients.
We’ve all had to adapt under Covid-19 conditions and I have taken further training to enhance my skills in telephone and video counselling. Although we may not be meeting face-to-face right now, our work together continues…
Because I offer sessions remotely - by phone or online via Zoom – we can connect wherever you are in the UK.
Once the pandemic measures are lifted and we are happy to meet in person I look forward to seeing clients again in Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa and surrounding areas.
We typically have one session per week, keeping the same regular day and time.
Sessions last 50 minutes, and we will discuss how many might be suitable. Bear in mind that in counselling we always work towards an ending, so ethically it is important to review and discuss progress and numbers of sessions.
Clients often find weekends more convenient: my hours are 9AM – 2PM Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Telephone or Zoom fees are £50 per session, payable in advance please by BACS.
